The Strategic Finance Division handles the loan portfolio of First Metro. It complements the Investment Banking Group by providing direct participation in syndicated facilities such as Project Finance, Syndicated Debt and Mezzanine financing. On its own, it pursues corporate markets by providing proprietary lending facilities and unique structures. Among its proprietary structures include Loans against receivables, participation in Securitization, Trade Acceptances, Term Loans and “special funded” short term facilities.
UNDERWRITING is the act or process of guaranteeing the distribution and sale of securities of any kind issued by corporates or the government. Underwritten securities can either be considered debt or equity. This is a fee-based service.
SYNDICATION is one of the primary lending vehicles for borrowers to finance major business operations with heavy financial requirements. It’s flexible and innovative-nature makes it a highly attractive funding technique for borrowers. It is also applicable to a broad mix of industries. Financial institutions originate and arrange these loans for large borrowers on a consolidated basis. Since secondary market participation is becoming more and more common, smaller capitalized banks are seeking greater return on their assets as they participate in credit previously outside their pricing or relationship reach.
PROJECT FINANCING deals with Companies proposing to engage in expansion programs. These would normally require long-term financing, and we will help by identifying and evaluating all project risks as outlined in project feasibility studies. After which creative strategies and techniques are formulated for the structuring of appropriate financial package needed for the project.
Short term and long term LOANS are granted by First Metro Investment on a secured basis (i.e., against REM, Money Market Placements or US Dollar Time Deposits of Metrobank, FMIC-Hongkong or International Bank of California). These loans may be used for various purposes like working capital, expansion, project construction or purchase of real estate. Interest rates are based on prevailing lending rates of First Metro Investment.
